Our methodology combines quantitative analysis of revenue metrics, technology differentiation scoring, market positioning assessment, and proprietary VC sentiment surveys conducted across 47 leading venture capital firms.
The 2026 edition analyzed over 200 cybersecurity startups across 14 market categories, tracked $8.2 billion in total funding, and incorporated 12 months of performance data through March 2026. This year's ranking saw notable movement: a seed-stage entrant (Vigilance Security) topped the composite score for the first time, while later-stage leaders Wiz and Island continued strong execution in their respective categories. As with all early-stage data, scores are point-in-time snapshots and may shift materially as companies raise subsequent rounds and report new financials.
